Tomorrow I start a 6 week leave of absence from work. My 12 hour reconstructive surgery is on Oct 29th. My doctors want me to take some time off to double down on my PT, healthy diet and rest...to get as strong as possible before the big day. The surgery will be at UCHealth Anschutz in Denver, primary surgeon is Dr. Chong. I’ll spend 2 days in ICU and 3 more days in a regular monitoring room. It’s DIEP flap surgery, it was recommended for breast cancer double mastectomy/disfiguring lymphectomy patients over other surgeries. It’s scary, but everyone says I would regret not doing anything...so here it goes! 😀😀
